When my clients ask me about expressions in their professional headshots, I rely on the following elements. Smiles with teeth, Smiles with no teeth, and a strong more confident expression with a positive attitude – known as “The Smize” (smiling with the eyes.) The smile with teeth is hugely approachable and most common. The smile with no teeth still shows positivity but with more of a backbone. The Smize exhibits a confident look and shows a bit more demand for respect and authority. These types of expressions are due to the fact that smile types vary. Some are more or less comfortable showing their teeth. Which one is your go-to smile?
